AREA 12-D TO SECTION W3A AND NOW W3S   In 1972, when the 12 Regions were changed to 6 Regions, the Order of the Arrow "Areas" were changed to "Sections".  In California the 5 Areas became 4 Sections.  It was Area 12-D that did not become a Section and the Lodges were moved to other Sections.  Esselen Lodge was the only Lodge moved from Area 12-D to Section W3A.  In 2008 Section W3A was changed to W3S.
